The Northern Leopard Frog (Rana pipiens) was probably one of the most abundant frogs in the Great Lakes Area before the 1970's. Due to the use of them for bait, medical/biological research, decline of wetlands and chemical pollutants the numbers have decreased greatly. They are now considered to be rare or uncommon. In an article by the Wisconsin DNR it states that they think that the average lifespan has decreased to 2 years versus an average lifespan of 3-4 before. It also states that there are fewer eggs being laid. The number of Northern Leopard Frogs is still on the decline. (There isn't any reference as to when the article was written)
CURRENTLY REVISING BIOGRAPHY and images. I hope to have it updated soon. Recording the special and beautiful surroundings I see and special moments of family and others gives me joy. I want to share those times and places with you. Capture the moments, while they are here. Janice
