Description
Union Station opened in 1914. It reached it's peak service in 1945 at the end of WWII when it provided service to 670,000 passsengers. With the decline of rail passenger service in the next four decades, Union Station closed it's doors in 1985. In 1996 a parntership was formed to restore the building at the cost of $250 million. In 1999 the building was reopened with museums and shops. In 2002 it once again provided Amtrak Rail Passenger Service and is the second-busiest station in Missouri.
