By James Earle Fraser (1876-1953), a famous sculptor in America's history. He was known for his works depicting the westward expansion and the plight of the Native Americans as their homes and land were taken in the 18th and 19th century. Other famous pieces of work by him are the designs of the Indian Head "Buffalo" Nickel, the WWI Victory Medal and the Navy Cross. Fraser never copyrighted "The End of the Trail" and commented that many others had probably profited more than he ever had. The Indian that modeled for him was Chief John Big Tree, an honored guest at Waupun's 125th Jubilee celebration in 1964.
CURRENTLY REVISING BIOGRAPHY and images. I hope to have it updated soon. Recording the special and beautiful surroundings I see and special moments of family and others gives me joy. I want to share those times and places with you. Capture the moments, while they are here. Janice
